Why is non-standard automation difficult to implement?

In the wave of transformation and upgrading in the manufacturing industry, non-standard automation is highly anticipated to become a key means of improving production efficiency and reducing costs due to its flexibility and customization features. However, the reality is often unsatisfactory, as many non-standard automation projects face difficulties during implementation, and some even fail. So, why is it difficult for non-standard automation to be smoothly promoted? Here are some possible reasons for us to explore.

1. Changing demands and high customization costs

The core of non-standard automation lies in"non-standard", which means designing and manufacturing according to the specific needs of customers. However, this high degree of customization often means high R&D costs and long development cycles.
